Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is a small community lying north of Westminster along the Littlestown Pike. Its prominent feature is the Bear Creek Golf Course and its proximity to the Hashawha Environmental Center. The broader area surrounding Mount Pleasant is known as Pleasant Valley. Local tradition says that the name was given as a result of Elizabeth Kurtz from Baltimore who came to visit her friend Laura Devilbiss and thought that the area should be called Pleasant Valley.
