Gaither

Gaither is a small community just south of Sykesville, along the old B&O tracks. Like a lot of Carroll's older areas, Gaither grew as a result of being located next to the train tracks and today remains a very quiet area, though it does has a thriving church community. Its proximity to Sykesville to the south makes it easy for Gaither's residents to get to the businesses they need without developing their own area beyond its capabilities.

The section by the railroad tracks is the lowest point of Gaither Road, the only road through the area, as it connects Forsythe Road out of Sykesville's southern end to Obrecht Road which leaves Sykesville from the western end of town. On the higher end of the road, there are a number of small business such as Little George's, as well as an older apartment complex, Gaither Manor, which lies secluded in the trees.
