Eldersburg

Eldersburg, once a sleepy crossroads at routes 32 and 26, is now a bustling shopping area, with numerous shops and restaurants. Numerous small shopping centers plus the Carrolltown mall attract visitors from all over the southern half of the county and the residential building boom in the area continually brings more people to the area.

Eldersburg was originally laid out as a town in the Freedom district prior to 1800 by John Elder, an early land-owner in the area. In its early days, it was not uncommon to see droves of sheep, cattle and turkeys along Liberty Road, headed to the Baltimore markets.

But, today, Liberty Road through Eldersburg is filled with cars, not sheep or cattle, and virtually every business imaginable now has a location in Eldersburg. Whether it's a nice dinner out or the movies or just a day shopping, Eldersburg has something to offer to all who come to the area.
