Off To Take Photos!
The sun is shining and no rain is showing in the forecast, so in about an hour, I'm off to trek through a couple of local graveyards in the New Windsor area to add some more photos to the Billion Graves applicaton. Some of these graveyards that I'll be visting are already listed in the app, but at least one that I plan to visit is not yet listed, so I'll get to test out adding a new cemetery to the application.
Have Phone Will Capture
If you have a smart phone with GPS enabled, you too can become part of a fun new project to build a database of over 1 billion gravestone records! An adventuresome group out in Utah have decided to make it really easy for folks to add records to a rapidly expanding database of headstone pictures with a new application called Billion Graves (http://BillionGraves.com). Unlike many of the other sites that track burials, the only wasy to add records to Billion Graves is by taking a picture with your GPS-enabled phone and uploading it to the site.
Shutting down the old site
I had hoped not to have to shut down the old site immediately, but it has now gotten to the point that the system has become corrupted to the point that I can no longer keep the admin user working properly. The site has had weird issues off and on with user logins and now has become too unstable to use, so effective immediately, the old site will be shut down to users completely.
More Updating Going On...
I know awhile back I had said that I hoped not to do another major rewrite of this site any time soon, but, once again, I find myself, rebuilding and renewing the site's structure and appearance. This time, it is part of a major effort to remove the ongoing issues involved with would-be spammers who seek continually to post their garbage on the site. Unfortunately, once again, this means that users will need to re-register on the site, but it's a quick process, so jump on in!
